Machine Shop and Field Manager

Year round, full time. Open for 2010.

The machine shop and field manager will work closely with the farm and production managers to plan and implement strategies for enhancing soil fertility and crop production while maintaining the farm’s fleet of tractors and vehicles.

Key responsibilities in the field:

• Develop and implement sustainable soil fertility and cover cropping plan

• Pest management

• Primary tillage, incorporation, cultivation

• Composting

Key responsibilities in the machine shop:

• Fleet maintenance and repair

• Record keeping

• Procurement

• Basic fabrication and light construction

Qualifications:

• Team Player

• Experienced in organic vegetable production - min. 5 years

• Effective communicator

• Detail oriented

• Practical knowledge of tractor maintenance and repair

• Committed to professional growth
